JFK Introduces High-Tech Solution For Tracking Wait Times

John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City has debuted a high-tech method for tracking wait times at TSA Security and Customs and Border Protection checkpoints. The BlipTrack solution anonymously tracks mobile phones of passengers, and the airport posts the wait times on 13 screens throughout Terminal 4.

O’Hare Offers Mobile Passport Control App for Customs

Chicago O’Hare International Airport now offers passengers the ability to use the Mobile Passport Control (MPC) application. Three other U.S. airports: Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson, Miami and Seattle-Tacoma, feature the app, which allows passengers to enter information requested by Customs and Border Protection via a smartphone or tablet before landing. Passengers are then able to use an express lane for customs once they land.

U.S. Seeks to Pre-clear More U.S.-Bound Travelers

The U.S. is looking to expand the number of inbound international travelers that clear customs and immigration before boarding their planes. Officials would like to pre-clear a third of all passengers; currently 18% are pre-cleared at facilities in 15 airports in Aruba, the Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, Ireland and Abu Dhabi, UAE.

App for Filling Out Customs Form

The pilot program to use your phone to fill out your Customs form will launch Wednesday, August 13 at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, the world’s busiest. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is launching a “Mobile Passport Control” app that will let the customers fill out their customs form on their smartphone or tablet. The goal for the app is to help shorten lines and make it easier for passengers to fill out the information.
