E-Cigarettes Banned From Checked Luggage

The US Department of Transportation has issued a new rule banning travelers to pack e-cigarettes in their checked luggage due to the fire hazards they pose. Travelers are able to pack their e-cigarettes in their carry-on bags. This new rule will go into effect in the next two weeks.

Southwest Launching 6 International Destinations

Southwest Airlines plans to add six international nonstop destinations on Oct. 15 from William P. Hobby Airport in Houston. The carrier built a $156 million international terminal at the airport for expanded flights. Southwest is also constructing an international terminal in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

American Offers Real-time Luggage Tracking on Website

American Airlines is offering customers the ability to track luggage in real time through the carrier’s website. Passengers can access the “Track Your Bags” page on American’s website, where they will be prompted to enter their surname and PNR or bag tag number. The service is available for domestic flights and some international flights.

Netflix and Virgin Announce Streaming on Flights

Virgin Airlines fliers will be able to access unlimited Netflix streaming as part of their subscription. That’s the new deal announced by the two companies. Users will be able to access Wi-Fi for free if they have a Netflix account, and can view the extensive range of original and licensed programming while they travel
