Marriott is First Hotel Brand to Offer Netflix Access

Marriott International is the first hotel brand that will now offer guests access to Netflix from their in-room TVs at selected properties. Consumers take their streaming content with them, so Marriott Hotels is providing the content directly to the TVs in their rooms. This is the hotel industry’s first brand to rollout Netflix directly in the hotel rooms.

Airlines Expedite the Boarding Process

Airlines are stepping up their services to help passengers board their flights faster, including an Early Valet service from Delta where employees load carry-on luggage into bins for passengers. Southwest is also seeking to speed up boarding by offering to seat families together early in the process since the airline does not sell assigned seating.

U.S. Seeks Customs Preclearance in 9 Countries

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has announced plans for preclearance facilities at 10 airports in nine countries, including Japan, the U.K., Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and the Dominican Republic. Preclearance allows travelers to take care of immigration and customs tasks before boarding a direct flight to the U.S.

LaGuardia Main Terminal to Receive $4 Billion Makeover

LaGuardia Airport has picked a contractor to manage the $4 billion planned renovation of its central terminal. The project will add a third story to the terminal and capacity to serve 17.5 million passengers annually. A Swedish firm, Skanska AB, is taking a lead role in the construction to help reinvent the airport.
